Over the past decade, I have built my career as a software engineer and product manager at technology companies in China and the United States.
In China, I worked on large-scale distributed systems serving hundreds of millions of users. Real-time data processing pipelines, microservice architecture migrations, performance optimization at scale. Every day was a lesson in the limits of scalability and reliability.
In the United States, I led AI product development, taking business applications powered by large language models (LLMs) from concept to production. Designing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, building AI agent workflows, establishing prompt engineering best practices. Working at the frontier of the technology while constantly asking: "What problem should this actually solve?"
These two chapters of my career gave me one conviction: The power of AI and software does not belong only to big tech companies. It can transform the daily work and lives of every business and every person.
Why I Founded in Japan
Through my years in China and the US, I came to see enormous potential in the Japanese market. Japan has the world's third-largest economy, yet digital transformation among small and mid-sized businesses remains in early stages. Many companies possess deep technical expertise, but there is significant room to grow in AI adoption and international expansion.
What struck me most was the shortage of people who can build a "technology bridge" between Japan and Greater China. The gap is not just language. It is development culture, business customs, and regulatory frameworks. Someone needs to understand both sides deeply enough to connect them.
I was born in China, worked in the United States, and now call Japan home. I founded GENGAKUTAKU INC. in Osaka in 2025 because this three-country background lets me offer something few others can.
How I Think About Technology
The principle I hold most closely is starting from the problem, not the technology.
When organizations consider AI adoption, they often begin by asking "What can AI do?" The more productive question is "What needs to be solved?" While many AI projects end at the proof-of-concept stage, we design for production from day one.
I also believe in owning the outcome, not just the delivery. Operations, maintenance, continuous improvement. We walk alongside our clients through the full lifecycle, not just the initial build.
Where GENGAKUTAKU is Heading
We operate across three pillars.
First, AI engineering. We design, build, and operate business applications powered by LLMs. Systems that actually work on the ground and deliver measurable results.
Second, cross-border product development. Bringing Japanese SaaS to Greater China, or adapting overseas products for Japan. We handle the technology, language, and cultural translation.
Third, DX and talent. Digital transformation for SMBs and building a talent bridge between Japan and China. Practical, hands-on work rooted in real business operations.
Technology is only a tool. What matters is whom we build it for, and how we build it. We work with our clients with honesty, care, and uncompromising craft, to shape what comes next together.
I look forward to your continued support and partnership.
